Niches and backsplash in antiqued mirror

Location

Private residence, Turin, Italy

Material

From a simple decorative detail, the mirror becomes a striking design element that enhances and amplifies natural light — an essential component in creating a unique atmosphere.

For the project of the two composed mirrors, was chosen a delicate antiquing in order to bring light to the living area. For the backsplash, on the other hand, was selected a bronze glass with a more intense finish to enhance the reflections and atmosphere of the kitchen, giving the space greater depth and character.

Antiqued mirrors

Antique mirrors are created using a process known as silvering, an ancient technique dating back to the 19th century.

I complement this technique with further decorative and painting processes: the use of pigments, powders and natural resins is combined with oxidative treatments of metal leaf, creating unique surfaces with an infinite variety of colour effects.
